I am not joking. clean out your billfold, your money belt, and keep all money, bank cards and cheques at home. Take whatever money you intend to spend on beverages, tips and whatever loose coins you plan on loosing and keep the rest behind.
Cynical? Not really. Practical really. You might well discover a win after a boozy evening out with your buddies and be lucky enough to catch a 25 minute roll at a hot craps table. Hang on to that adventure because it is as short-lived as it gets if you continually drink and bet. The 2 just do not mix.
Leaving your money at home is a little excessive, however, defensive actions for dramatic behavior is relative and necessary. If you wager to succeed, then do not consume alcohol and gamble. If you can manage to throw away your cash without a worry, then drink all the no charge booze your gut can hold, but don’t take bank cards and checks to toss into the mix of going after losses once your inebriated brain throws away everything!
